Why?

So for those of you who remember the Arsenio Hall show and his "things that make you hmmm" segment here's my version they are all things that make me ask "why?"

Why do we spend the more time at work or commuting to work than we do with those we love?
Why do we work 5 days and get only 2 off?
Why do politicians think they can get away with anything? (because usually they do...)
Why do people care what color your skin is?
Why do people judge others based on things they have no control over?
Why can't some of us listen more and talk less?
Why do CEO's get a big payout for running a company into the ground?
Why do 3 page bills become 400 page bills?
Why do we keep electing sleeze?
Why does the government feel they need to have their hand in everything?
Why don't we talk to our neighbors?
Why don't we disipline the neighborhood kids when they do something they shouldn't?
Why do schools have to fix all the problems?
Why can't families stay together?

This list could go on and on, but I think you get the point. What makes you ask why?

Staying Warm

Below are Stanley and Louis enjoying their new bed and staying warm during a power outage caused by the photo after. Lincoln County has been hit hard by freezing fog. Our power outages were minimal compared to those who lived outside of town and were out of power and water for days.

Fog, Fog, and more Fog

I took this after yoga tonight. This is what fog and freezing temperatures create. It's been foggy in Davenport for almost a week and it doesn't look like it's going anywhere.

Remembering '08

So as we say good-bye to another year I think it's good to look back on some of the highlights.
  • Babies, babies and more babies. Two very special little girls were born in 2008; Genavieve and Chloe!
  • Travel. Girls trip to France: Paris, St Gilles Croix de Vie and Amboise. That was a fabulous trip and I hope I won't have to wait 10 years to go back again. "May I perfume you" that's classic!
  • Last year in my 20's; they were good to me! May my thirties be even better.
  • Record snow fall in Spokane. We entered 08 with crazy snow and we ended it in the same way.
  • Sold the coffee stand. Loved it and would do it again! (checked it off my 50 things to do before I die list)
  • Booked a trip for 09!
  • Third Anniversary (although both Luke and I say it feels longer-in a good way)
  • Thanksgiving tradition at out house-love our home filled with friends and family.
  • Started a blog.
  • Luke finally got a deer hunting!
  • Started to learn more about history. Thanks to John Adams mini-series! I think I'm officially on my way to becoming a history geek.
  • Got an iPhone. Downloaded the constitution app.
  • Reminded why I love and hate politics.
  • Have a "mind crush" on Edward Tufte
  • Fell in love with vampires again-Twighlight and True Blood
  • Discovered audio books
  • Completed all the Harry Potters-great books!

These are just a few things. May 2009 bring a new chapter to everyone's story. It's going to be a great year!

Gros Bisous! Hugs and Kisses!

Christmas Eve Drive

So Christmas Eve day I headed into Spokane to get my hair cut and colored and pick up a couple last gifts. Here are couple pictures of my drive. I realize this is probably completely illegal; these photos were taken with my iPhone while driving. (I'm a good driver, a very good driver)

Align CenterHere's a shot of Hwy 2 on the way home. Not to bad, driven in much worse. (this is Luke's commute everyday)

I love this photo, it's 14th Ave between Grand and Bernard on Spokane's South Hill.

Pup-pups

The puppies are wondering if they will ever see grass again...

Swing Choir Table 1

This is the third year I have decorated this family's table and each year I think it keeps getting better!
There is a little irony in the napkin holders. This was the snowiest December on record!

Swing Choir Table 2

So for those of you who live outside of the big city of Davenport you may be asking yourself "what is a Swing Choir table?" Davenport High School has a Swing Choir concert and dinner event every year the Sunday before Christmas. In the past I have been recruited by one of my co-workers to decorate her table and this year was no different. But this year I was volunteered to decorate another. Here is the second table, I think it turned out quite well.
